I put my wire clamps back on and sure enough one of them was in the
way. What I'll do is move the one clamp over about an inch to the right
and that should be enough clearance. I'll also need to come up with some
kind of rubber stop for each pedal to rest on. Right now the plastic
wire covers are keeping the pedals from touching the firewall but that
won't do. Just something else for me to keep in mind.

The master cylinders are just about ready to be installed
but I wanted to paint the adapter plate first. The last thing I need is
a rusty bunch of steel under there and this should keep it from the
elements. If you're wondering if it's the same color as the car...well
it's not... but it's close. I came up with this color by looking at my
old cross member sitting next to my jack-stands the other day. The two
looked close which is lucky for me that I had some left over from when I
painted the stands. I know it's not an exact match here but it's better
than nothing and it doesn't look to bad for a rattle can. Besides, it's
pretty hard to see under the car because it sits pretty low so I don't
think anyone will know the difference. Well...except whoever is reading
this of coarse.

While I was in the paint booth, I sprayed the pedals too. Before
painting I masked the pivot points along with the threads at the other
end. I'm sure this won't last very long with all the heat of the exhaust
but at least it's protected for now.

What I'm doing here is taking the easy way out to touch-up my chassis.
By spraying the paint into a cup, I'm able to brush it on without
masking anything. If I were to spray it on, it would go everywhere and
then I'd need to mask the entire car which is something I don't want to
do. Like I said earlier, I don't think anyone will see it once I'm
finished and it will be protected. I only used this cheap brush for the
first two coats and then switched to a nicer one for the final coat.

It didn't turn out very well but at least it's not bare metal anymore. I
found out that when you add each coat of paint, it wants to loosen the
previous coat and they both want to run. I know that spraying wouldn't
do this but it's better than masking everything.

I added these two rubber stops to the firewall so the pedals will rest
against them instead of the wiring loom. I put riv-nuts behind them
which made screwing them in nice and easy. They stick out farther than
the loom does now so the wires won't get damaged.
Speaking of riv-nuts, this area of the firewall is very thick and the
riv-nuts don't stick through it. On the other hand, they work just the
same as if were a thin piece because they expand inside the hole and
don't come loose.
