The cylinder heads are also made by
Dart as you can see by the box. They make one of the better heads out
there.

As you can see, there made out of
Aluminum and weight half as much as cast iron ones. These are Darts Pro
1, 230cc heads. What's the 230cc mean? It means that the intake runners
are 230cc's and are Darts biggest head for a small block Chevy. They
also make ones that are 215 and 195 cc's but because of the larger cubic
inch I'm building, I will be able to use the larger ones and take
advantage of them.

These also have the larger valves
which are 2.08 for the intake and 1.60 for the exhaust. The valves are
made out of stainless steel and are swirl polished. They come with a
four angle valve job which aids in getting the fuel in the chamber in a
less restrictive manner (almost like if there was only a radius in place
of only one angle). Stock valve jobs are only one angle which is 45
degrees. The springs are the largest they make to which are 1.550 in
diameter and have a rating of 195 lbs on the valve seat. Now if your
going to be racing then there should be no problem with this kind of
spring pressure but on the street, this is a tad much. I'll tell you why
I going to leave them in a little later.

Dart also includes
Manley head studs
which are 7/16" in diameter along with
Comp-Cams guide plates. The
head studs I am using are the larger of the two offered. The other ones
are 3/8" diameter but with the large springs, you really should
have the larger studs to cut down on any flex. Guide plates go under the
head studs and keep the push-rods from moving around. These guide plates
are also heat treated to last a long time. Dart uses Comp-Cams' guide
plates but I don't know why. I guess they must have something special
about them.
