I was going to use a distributor with
points like I had in my last car but after looking at how nice the new
electronic ones were, I bought without points.
MSD
makes great stuff and there distributors are one of the best. This is
there Pro Billet model 85551.

The housing is CNC machined from
6061-T6 aluminum and features an oil lube tract to direct oil to the cam
and distributor gears. The distributor comes complete with a high
quality cap and MSD's Racing Rotor. There is no vacuum advance and an
MSD Ignition Control must be used (more on the control box later). It
also has a .500" diameter shaft with a Tuftride coating for
friction reduction and resistance to corrosion. A combination of a
sealed ball bearing and an extra long sintered bushing provide smooth
operation at high rpm. The MSD high output magnetic pickup produces a
trigger signal as the paddles of a precision manufactured reluctor (a
wheel with 8 cutouts in it) spin by. This pickup is also
maintenance-free with no adjustments ever necessary.

When running a mechanical roller, the
cam is heat treated which means it would chew up the distributor gear if
not changed. This gear by
MSD
is made out of bronze to be compatible with the hardened camshaft. All
that needs to be done is tap out the pin that holds the original gear
on, slide on the new gear, Insert the new pin and were ready to go.

Here is the control box I was going to
show you earlier. This is made be
MSD
also and is model 6AL. I had the 6A in my old car which worked great but
this one has one feature that I really liked that the other didn't.
