33 Coupe Engine 34        6/25/03

To get the carb full of fuel, Holley also makes fuel pumps. This is an electric one instead of a mechanical one.

It comes with a high pressure regulator and mounting hardware as well. This pump flows 88 GPH (gallons per hour) at 9 PSI (pounds per square inch). It comes preset at 14 PSI and only draws 3 amps of current. The regulator is necessary because of the pumps high output and would flood the carburetor if not used. This should provide more than enough fuel for the thirsty engine.

To keep the fuel clean you have to have a filter so this one by Professional Products will be installed before the pump. Mounting hardware is also provided and will be installed under the trunk area on the chassis along with the fuel pump. With the filter and pump under the car, this will free up some space in the engine compartment and should look a little cleaner.

The Protorque starter I bought has some nice features. By removing two screws in the front, It can be mounted in eight different positions in case you have to clear your headers, oil pan or whatever. It mounts in line and It also comes with shims to get the exact amount of clearance between the flex-plate and starter gear. Mounting bolts are included as well. This unit puts out 342 pounds of torque which is over twice as much as a normal starter and only weights 9 1/2 pounds. It has a 4.44:1 reduction ratio, produces 3.1 horsepower, is sealed with rubber O-rings and it only draws 80 to 90 amps too. This should provide plenty of cranking power to the engine.
