Let's get wired...
This is a shot of the firewall from the inside of the
car. I'll be installing all the electrical items here like the fuse box,
trans computer, coil and ignition control box. Now this is going to be a
little different trying to attach things here because there's no metal
to weld to and I don't want any bolts to go through to the other side
(which would be the easy way) to keep things clean looking inside the
engine compartment. So how am I going to attach things? I thought that
things would mount to a piece of wood fairly easy so all I had to do was
come up with a way to keep the piece of wood in place.

I cut a piece of cardboard the same
shape as the firewall under the dash and then transferred that shape to
a piece of 1" X 8" pine. The length of this piece is only
42" across which isn't very long.

What I came up with to attach the wood
to the fiberglass was to make three pieces like this and then bond them
to the firewall. This is just some mild steel 3" X 3" X
1/16" with a 1 1/4" long 5/6-18 piece of all-thread welded to
it. After all these were in place, I could drill holes in the wood and
this would hold it in place.

This is what I'm going to use to bond
the steel to the fiberglass. It's made by Evercoat which is the same
company that makes Bondo. I've used Bondo many times in the past and
this mixes the same way so there was no learning curve there. Evercoat
makes a large number of products but with a phone call, I talked to
someone that recommended this stuff to do what I needed so let's see
what happens.
