This is some of the hardware that has to be installed to the bottom mounting blocks. The hood is held in place by the tapered pin that you see below (two per side). On the back of the pin there is a nut with a step inside that the cable goes into. The end of the cable has a piece crimped on it that has a shoulder which slides through the nut first and then screws onto the back of the tapered pin. The pin also has a spring on it so it won't rattle loose or come unlocked. The cable then goes through the rail and into the inside of the car through a hole in the cowl.

This should give you a better idea of what I'm talking about. One problem that I ran into was having enough clearance for the front mounting blocks cable to pass the rear mounting block. I made the fit a little to close and had to do some Dremel work to make some room for the cable to run next to it. Notice the ratty looking notched out area on the bottom of the block. This will never show because it's on the bottom so no big deal.

When the hood is in place, this tapered pin will enter the top mounting block and keep it from going anywhere. It's a nice setup but takes a lot of time to get right.

On the inside of the car, I needed a way to keep the cables from moving as they came through the cowl so I made some clamps out of aluminum. The larger hole will be used to hold the bracket in place which goes over the stud that I welded on the rail to hold it against the cowl. I made the stud longer than I needed and now it's paid off. The cables get clamped in place by two 6-32 screws.
