This is what it looks like with all
the shims in place. I had to place the hood on, check the fit, take the
hood off, add or remove some shims, place the hood back on several times to get
it just right.

After your sure the hood fits like you
want it too, you tape it all the way around so it doesn't move. Now it's
time to do some measuring and place a string between the cowl and grill
shell.
|
|
If you look right below the bottom of
the hood, you will see a string that has been taped at both ends. The
distance between the string and hood is 3/32". The reason for the
string is to line-up the hood latch assembly and the string aids in
making sure that you get it right.

This is the rest of the hinge assembly.
The long pieces (rails) attach to the firewall (on one end) and grill shell (on
the other end). The other pieces
are the hood props that I will talk about later. The rails come
to-long and have to be cut
to length which the video covers. Now the video walks you through the installation
of a 32 Ford but doesn't talk about any other year cars. The paper
instructions are the same but does mention in "one" picture that the
rails have to be trimmed to fit against the cowl and not against the
firewall like the 32 does. You also have to cut the rear of the long
pieces off four inches in back of the rear mounting block cut-outs. This is so the moving
pieces will have room to move and work without binding or hitting
something. I measured and marked five inches from the rear cut-outs
(giving myself plenty of room) and cut the 1" X 1" square
tubing. Now it's time to trim rails to fit against the cowl.
