33 Coupe Chassis 37        2/05/04

I decided to attach the collector to the reducer with a quick-disconnect system for two reasons. The first is so I can take it apart in easier and two, so I can get it out of the car. If this were one long section, I couldn't get the drivers side tube out because of the power brake booster and trans being so close to one another. The reducer slips over the collector by two inches so this shouldn't leak. It will be held together with a bolt and locking nut (like the headers and collectors are) which will pull the two together for a tight fit.

Things are starting to take shape under here now. The tubes don't have much clearance between the cross member and the floor so getting them to stay centered between the two will require some careful work when I add hangers to hold the tubes in place. The clearance I have is about 1/4" pre side which isn't very much.

Here are the exhaust hangers that I'm going to use. There made out of stainless steel so they will take the weather. Notice how they can swivel in either direction and they have rubber between the two pieces of steel. The rubber is necessary so you don't get any resonance from the engine.

Here is the hanger welded on the end of the tube that will be running over the rear-end housing. Notice how small the hanger is now. I cut it down to only the last hole because of how close the tube is to the floor of the car. I'll also have to mount the hanger at an angle so I can get it even closer to the floor.
