33 Coupe Chassis 34        1/24/04

It's hard to see here but they have a straight-through design. This is typical of there racing line of mufflers and Borla brought that over to there Turbo line as well. The major difference between these and there XR-1 series is some packing material that goes inside them. That packing material makes them quieter. Now when you buy a muffler and haven't heard them before like me, it's a crap-shoot so if they don't sound good or are to loud, I'll buy some others.

I measured the length from my reducer (black piece) back to where the muffler would be and cut some tubing. The use of tape worked so good on my headers that I used it here too. Notice the small one inch piece just behind the reducer.

This small piece is cut at an angle so the tubing would be away from my chassis on the other end. There is less than a 1/8" difference here but makes a big change at the other end of the tube. Whatever it takes ya know.

After sliding on the muffler and seeing how things were fitting, I needed to go up-and-over the cross member, so out came the hack-saw. Notice the bent welding rod at the bottom. This was the pattern that I needed to follow. After marking some lines, I cut 3" of the end (the piece to the right) which was straight. Then I cut the other end which ended up just into the bend. The piece in the middle is what I ended up with and will go into the muffler. The bent section will be the start of the trip that will go around the cross member.
