Chess set 9
November 2002

Red velvet is what I used for the inside. By cutting the velvet into strips and then gluing them onto the wood, it can be trimmed with scissors or a razor blade. The scissors work the best but have to be sharp. The velvet has to be trimmed from the divider system slots and it takes awhile so you have to take your time. Once all the gluing and trimming is done, it can be put together. Now all this will be on top of some more velvet that goes in the bottom. The bottom has two pieces of cardboard that are covered with velvet and then glued on the back. This way it won't be a problem if you get messy, as it won't show. The two pieces of cardboard with velvet are going to fit between the middle piece that separates the middle on the bottom piece. These two cardboard pieces are about 7 3/4" X 16 1/8" in size and just sit in the bottom. The divider system will keep the two cardboard pieces in place as the whole system press' in. The green felt is for the bottom of the chess pieces.
