Chess set 10
November 2002

All the hardware for the project are brass. The hinges open up to 95 degrees so the top will stay open. The hinges were recessed flush on the surfaces in which they were fastened. The locks two pieces were also recessed flush. It takes about a 2 1/2 long end mill to make the lock slot deep enough. The keyhole was also recessed to give it that finished look.

Here you can see it's gettin' close. I put some Oak molding on the sides to dress it up a little. The next page will show it off. The size of the molding is almost the same as the height of the sides and needs to be trimmed just a little on the bottom to make it fit nice. The corners of the molding were mitered at 45 degrees and was glued on as well.
