33 Coupe Having Fun 4        3/08/06

The other day I received a call from Larry, (the owner of my old Camaro) and he wanted to know if I would like to take my car over to a local speed shop called "Accelerations" on the 25th of February. Now I really didn't want to do anything on that day because that happened to be my birthday. I asked what the occasion was and he told me that the owner of "Accelerations", Steve,  wanted two things from me. One, he would like to see my car for the first time and two, he wanted to know if I would like to have my car in a TV commercial that he was filming for his business. The TV commercial would be airing on Spike TV sometime soon and Gary, Larry and I were all invited.

Now I have to say, this offer was hard to pass up so out to the garage I went to clean up the car. All we had to do was be there about two hours early so everyone could be in position once the camera guy arrived.

On the left we have a late model Chevy pickup truck that had a big block Chevy in it, which sounded real nice and next to him was Gary's 37, my car and then Larry's Camaro.

On the other side of the building we have an assortment of cars and trucks. The trucks that you see below have all had work done to them right here at Accelerations, which was part of the concept for the commercial.

This is Steve's truck (the owner of Accelerations) which is a very nice ride. This new Ford F250 has a turbo diesel in it and it can fry those huge tires with no problem.

Speaking of spinning the tires, here's Steve leaving at least 50 bucks worth of rubber on the ground for the sake of a good shot for his commercial. The camera guy had Steve do this about four times to make sure he had a good shot. I remember hearing Steve saying "one more time??" more than once. Whatever it takes....right?

While this shot was being filmed, all of the car owners were told to stay inside the building. This way, he could shoot the truck spinning the tires and then pan across all the other vehicles that were parked out front. I'm looking forward to seeing how the commercial looks when it's on TV.

Right after the camera guy got his perfect shots, we were allowed to come back out of the building while they shot some footage on the inside. Steve had food catered for all the car owners (Domino's Pizza) along with a soda of your choice (Coke or Diet Coke). We all had a great time and it was good to see a few people that I haven't seen in awhile.

The guy in the back of my car is my father-in-law. We road down there together and he had a good time because he's a gear-head at heart just like me.

The commercial is going to be shown starting March 11th, which is a Saturday. I don't know what time of day or night it will be on but if you happen to see it, drop me a line and let me know how it looks. I may have to start doing something I hate to do, and that's start watching commercials in place of looking for other channels that aren't. All of the people that had cars or trucks here that day are suppose to receive a DVD of the finished commercial so if I miss it on TV, I'll still be able to see it. Once I have the DVD, I'll make a video of it so everyone can check it out.

Update: Check out the video here.
