33 Coupe Having Fun 32       5/25/11

On May 15th the Redlands Professional Firefighters had their '15th Annual Car Show' on State St. which is in the old part of Redlands, Ca. This is a really nice part of town with the streets lined with tall trees, all the intersections have brick inlays in them along with lots of shade that's gets provided from the overhang of all the storefronts.

The show ran from 8 am to 3 pm and all of the proceeds go to the Redlands Firefighters. They have a pancake breakfast from 7 to 10 am that starts off the event and then later in the day there is are opportunity drawings, a 50/50 drawing, lots of cool prizes and you have your choice of all kinds of food to eat because the show is held on a busy street downtown. And the first 300 cars get a dash plaque too. There were all kinds of antique firefighting equipment, vintage fire trucks, displays of all kinds, vendors, and lots of fun stuff for the kids.

This show typically brings in a lot of nice cars but this year was an exception. The reason being is because of the bad weather. Now this show is held 'rain or shine' and there was plenty of the former with a lot less of the latter.

We left town before 6:00 am and arrived in less than a half an hour which put us in our favorite spot for the day. That was the good news but with the blustery conditions that we had, a lot of people either didn't come out or went home once they had enough of the wet stuff. It started off with sprinkles and then turned to rain on and off throughout the day. Larry and I cleaned our cars twice and some other people as many as three times.

At around 1:30 pm, the skies showed a little blue in them and everyone seemed to take that opportunity to wipe down their cars on last time. I only had a couple of miro-fiber towels with me and I must have wrung that thing out 30 times before my car was close to being dry. You'll see what I mean once you check out the pictures because most of them were taken while it was raining.

Oh... on a related note I found out something else that day....my camera seems to be waterproof. At least I think it is because it still works.

This was taken at about 6:30 am and the street should be packed by now. As you can tell not that many people are here yet.

Solid tires, spoke wheels and a chain drive.

This is where the pancake breakfast was held.

This guy was pretty wet when he pulled in.

When I first saw the bike on the left as it was parking, I thought it wasn't painted. Once I got closer I noticed it had silver paint and it looked really nice. Also notice the larger 23" wheel on it compared to the other one which has your standard 21". I believe this is for better handling/looks but there's a limit till it starts to flop back and forth on you.
