The Interstate battery that I'm using has some nice
features like post and side mounts. You never know when you
might need to add something later on and this will make it easier. It
also has 850 cold cranking amps which is high for a group 24 battery. I
might be removing the handle because it could get in the way. I guess
we'll see after everything's in place.

We have an assortment of items here
that will be used for the battery hold down that I bought at the hardware store so let's go through them one by one.
The battery is going to be held down by two 3/8" bolts which conforms
to the NHRA rules. The two hangers you see below have this size thread
but will be cut to work with what I'm going to do. Next we have four
small plastic stops that have a hole in the middle for mounting screws.
The two small pieces of tubing are for the 3/8" bolts to pass
through and the angle iron is the clamp that will hold the battery down.
Let's put it all together to see what it looks like.

The first thing I did was cut one end
of the hanger off too leave an "L" shape that will be welded
to the angle iron.

By welding the two 3/8" diameter pieces to
the angle iron, I now have a battery hold-down that should be very
strong. Now what am I going to bolt it too? Remember the small spacers!!!
