Working With Wood Continued
This was pretty easy to do and should keep the bottles from falling.
It's hard to beat a milling machine for fit and
finish.
I'm nearing the end of this project and one of the last
steps is to make the drawers. I'm resawing some alder that will be used
to make the drawers with, except for the fronts which will be purple
heart. If you look close you can see some layout lines on the larger
piece that represent some of my pieces.
Next I ran them all through my thickness planer.
This is thickness I came up with for the alder.
Here I'm sanding all my pieces before I cut them to
length.
And here are all my pieces for the drawers. The purple
heart is 5/16" thick because I needed the extra material for some
joinery.
I'm making a rabbet on three sides of the front pieces
so the sides and bottom have a little more surface area for glue.
I switched saw blades so I have a flat bottom for my
rabbets. I used my crosscut sled for this operation because I can
control the length easily here.
And there we are, these drawer fronts are ready to be
assembled.
