Hanging Hardware Continued
The smaller ones are a little different, they came with eye hooks. The
reason is because the smaller flags don't weigh as much.
|
|
I placed the hooks on the sides of the
stringers just below the surface.
|
|
And then wrapped the wire around itself the same as the larger ones. The
brass piece to the right is the hook that came with this smaller set.

9MM Brass
I did the same thing for the 9mm shells (Scotch Brite) as the others to
remove the oxidation. This goes pretty quickly even though I did 150 of
them.
|
|
To press the shells into the holes, I used a round pin
with a flat bottom that I put in my milling machine. First I set a stop
for the depth, placed the shell in the hole, then pulled down on the
quill handle to press it in place. This worked out great and was fast!! BTW,
the machine was off while doing this.

Clear Finish
I'll be using a spray clear semi-gloss finish for this project and I'll
be spraying the brass shells at the same time. This will put a
protective layer on each one to help prevent oxidation.

Here is my finishing room, a piece of warped plywood and saw horses.
|
|
A few days later I installed the hanging hardware.
