Sanding
I'm getting ready to sand all the flags so I'm using my old desktop as a
work area....again.
These Bench Cookies work great for this
because they have a rubbery surface on both sides. That helps grab your
work piece and it stays in place on your work bench during sanding.
I used my random orbital sander with some 60 grit paper to rough with and
then switched to 120 grit later.

Brass Stars Continued
I'm removing the burr that was created from working on the lathe awhile
ago.
And I'm adding a small chamfer to make it easier to put these into
the holes as well.
To keep the shotgun shells in place, I'll be using some 60 minute epoxy.
This will work much better than the quick drying five minute stuff I
normally use.
I put a small amount near the top of each hole (both sides) and then
inserted the shell. This worked out great... along with the
extended working time.

Hanging Hardware
To hang the flags, I saw these in the hardware store and thought they
would work good. I've never used them before but they look nice and
strong.
Once you screw the body of the hanger into the wall, you then insert the
long screw and it flips the silver piece into the upright position,
drawing it against your wall. This acts like a clamp and should hold it in place.
The kit also came with wire to attach the hanging hardware. If you look at
the above picture, this system is rated at 100 pounds.
All you do is wrap the wire around itself a bunch of times (about 15 to
20) and it stays in place. I placed the wire hangers 1/3 the distance
from the top and screwed them in place.
