Long & Short Stripes
Here is most of the wood that I'll be using for this project. The
large flags will have stripes 1.800" wide (just over 1 3/4") and the
smaller ones are about 1 1/8" in width.

Now it's time to run all those pieces
through my thickness planer.
I used the top of this tool box for a staging area for the planer. I
took a minimum clean-up on all the them, but a few pieces of the
sapele were warped pretty bad. Not sure why that is because the maple
stayed pretty straight.
Now that all the pieces are the same thickness, it's time to cut all them all to length. And with the aid of my new
miter saw work stop, this made life easy.
About an inch was cut off each piece to bring them to length.

More Cantons
Here I'm gluing the three pieces that will make the
Cantons for the larger flags. These ended up being too wide for my
thickness planer so I was careful when I was gluing.
They came out pretty good because...of my new biscuit joiner.
Here I'm squaring the black walnut for the smaller Cantons.
My garage was busy but there was plenty of room to work.
Sanding these larger Cantons went pretty fast thanks to that biscuit
joiner.
Here I'm squaring the larger ones on my milling machine. These were much
to large for my vice so I clamped them to the table.
