This spring plate is on the passenger
side of the car which will be for the rear of the hood side. I shaped
the spring panel to match the existing lines of the body a little better
and fastened it
with screws. The front one is riveted to the grill shell.

Here you can see the hood side in
place. I riveted the Dzus fasteners to the hood sides but will remove
them for paint and then reinstall them again later. I don't want to paint the
fasteners because I know they will end up with chips and nicks in them once I
start using them.

Here is a close-up of the rear
fastener to show you what they look like a little better. I'll need to have
some body work done to the hood sides but rivets remove very easily with
a drill so taking them out is no big deal. After the car's painted, I'll
reinstall them. One more thing about the style of fasteners that I went
with is that once you turn and unlock it, the cam part stays with the
hood side. You can buy these so the part that turns comes completely out
or not. Mine turn and then a spring pops the cam away but you don't have two pieces which means
no lost parts. Again, it makes life a
little easier.

I had a hard time deciding on what
type of mirrors to use for the outside of the car. I looked at several
kinds and shapes and went with these from
Billet
Specialties. One of the things I wanted was some kind of shinny
mirror, not painted because I think it will break-up the look of the car
a little.
Besides, these will match the headlights because they're polished
stainless.
