33 Coupe Paint 27        10/29/05

While I'm talking about the trunk, here is what it looks like at the moment. I'm getting the carpet in and I'm hooking up the trunk latch. The trunk latch has a solenoid that opens it and the cable that runs between the two has to be adjusted just right. If it's not, the trunk doesn't open so I've been getting that bolted up.

Moving to the underside of the car, your looking at my fuel line. The fuel line runs through a plate that I made to cover up an ugly hole in the floor. I had the plate anodized and I polished the button head cap screws that hold it in place. The other screws that you see below hold my exhaust hangers. Yeah.....they got the polish treatment too.

While I was under the car working on the fuel line, I also hooked up my exhaust system. I had to wait till I installed my seats before I could do the exhaust because there are four bolts on each seat, two of which that are right under the pipes. The larger nuts and washers that you see next to the exhaust are for my seat belts. They had to be installed as well before any tubes went in. The JetHot coating sure does look good under there. I also bought new mufflers and they're on the car now too. The new mufflers are the Borla XR1 racing units, and like my other ones, they're made out of stainless steel. I have no idea how they'll sound but I had to try them. Most parts can be returned but not mufflers. Once you fire-up the engine to here them, they're yours to keep after that, even if you don't like them. I'll let you know how they sound once I get my gas tank painted and back in.

This was suppose to be one of the pictures that would show my exhaust system but I was too high with the camera and it didn't show what I wanted it to. I liked how the picture came out so I used it anyways and made it a little bigger than the others on my site (sorry too the guys with dialups). It makes the car look like it's much longer than it really is. I wish I had the car up on a "rack" so I could show the whole undercarriage because it looks way clean right now (might be the last time it looks this way). Maybe I'll ask around town to see if I can use someone's lift and take a better shot. If you look close, you can see my floor jack which almost  matches my paint job way down there. It's really a different color but here it looks pretty close.
