33 Coupe Having Fun 46       10/05/07

Here we have a Chevelle SS convertible with a 454 in it and a Dodge Charger.

This car was powered by a flat head Ford with three two barrel carbs, big whites and was driven by a....dog.

This is one clean 57 Ford and I like the old school look with the chrome rims, baby moons and the white letters showing.

This old Ford is in pristine condition and if you look close, you can see the license plate that says "Historical Vehicle". It's hard to believe that this is a driver because it's sooooo clean.

This Chevy Impala belongs to a friend of mine and he keeps it very clean too. As you can tell, it's on bags and is ready to eat some weeds.

Now normally, I wouldn't take a picture of a late model car at a show that's for early model cars, but there happens to be a story behind them. The two Ford Mustangs belong to a local Ford dealership, and once the guys dropped them off, they both needed a ride back to work. I just happen to be walking around and bumped into the guy that was putting on the show. And he asked me if I could drive the two guys back to the dealership. The first question I asked was, "which car do I get to drive?". A quick response was, "not the Cobra, the GT". Oh well, the GT it is.

Now it's been awhile since I've driven a stick car and it showed while I was exiting the parking lot because I stalled it. One of the guys was on my case and said, "what's wrong with you, your not going to hurt it, let's go".

I took it easy on our way to their destination but once they were out of the car, this is when I thought to myself, how often do I get a chance to drive one of these? Never is the answer.

When I came to my first stop sign, I decided to see just how rusty I really was with clutch. Well it turns out I wasn't that out of shape after all because I was able to get rubber in second and third gear. And I wanted to be sure that my "speed shifting" skills were still in tacked as well, so I laid the peddle on the floor and slammed through the gears again. I figured the worst that could happen would be a missed gear but low and behold, I didn't have a box full of neutrals after all because I hit every shift like I drove a stick car every day. And if you want to know how it ran, that answer would be...not to bad. Maybe next year they'll let me drive the Cobra!!
