Gluing
I glued the two pieces together and let it set overnight. BTW, this
will be the bottom.

More Machining
Here I'm squaring the ends to the sides of
this bottom piece. I did the same for the top.
These pieces will be part of the sides of the box. I used my bandsaw to
cut to the line.
Then I cut all the side pieces on my milling machine.

Sanding I'm using my desktop for a workbench again because it
works great for this. I'm getting ready to do some sanding and with the
aid of my Bench Cookies, this will make it that much easier.
What are Bench Cookies you ask? These are sold by
Rockler and they have a
rubbery surface on both sides. This helps them grip whatever you put
them on... or whatever you put on top of them.
I started with 150 grit sandpaper and worked my way to 320. This went
pretty fast because this wood is soft.

More Machining
Next I drilled four 1/4" dowel holes per side that will match up with
the side pieces.
Here I'm putting in the same 1/4" holes and spacing on
the sides, but I left my work piece a little bit long. The reason for
leaving the sides long is because I don't have an accurate way of
measuring them. My calipers only go to 12" long and this piece is about
20".
Here you can see what I'm talking about. Notice the
amount the side piece overhangs the bottom piece. I can measure this with some
calipers, make note of the amount and then remove said amount to make
both pieces flush with each other.
