This is a jet car that raced an airplane that day.
 

 

 

The driver sits right in front of the intake of the jet engine. I've heard jet car drives say they can't feel any suction coming from the back of them but it sure looks like it would.
 

 

 

The car accelerates pretty quick but they don't stay in the gas very long. This is one car that I'd pass on driving.
 

 

 

This Police helicopter, model 500 is made by M.D. Helicopter Company which my work happens to make parts for. The parts that we make are in the main rotor and tail rotor area. The Police put on a mock car chase, K9 demo along with some fancy flying that afternoon.
 

 

 

This is the main rotor which has five blades (500 series) and they also make a six bladed model (600 series). My work makes the strap assemblies that go between the blade and main rotor hub which joins them together. The straps are called tension torsion straps and are flexible so the rotors can pitch up and down. The straps are hidden inside of a titanium cover assembly that keeps them out of the elements while flying.
 

 

 

The same kind of strap assembly is located inside that red housing called a torque tube. If you look close you can see a nut and bolt on each end of the tube that runs through the strap assembly and blades.
 

 

 

If either the main or tail rotor strap assemblies were to break, the aircraft would crash. These parts are considered critical flight safety parts because a life is at stake here.
