Hardware Continued

I'm using a 3/16 corner rounding end mill to match the radius on the edge molding.

Here I'm getting ready to attach each end piece. And to make sure each one went into the right place, I marked them with letters. But they are all very close to the same length.

I'll be using some casters to move it around the garage. I've never used this kind before but they look very strong.

The casters came with a paper pattern for the screw layout which made it easy to attach each one. Now all I have to do is flip that lever with my foot to raise the bench, and then hit it again to set it on the floor.

Voiding The Warranty

I really like how these casters work but I decided to add something to them to make it even easier to move the levers. Here I'm drilling a hole in the top of each lever for a 5/16 bolt. And come to find out the levers are heat treated and wiped out my drill. I had to use a carbide end mill to size the hole with and that even had some wear on it when I was finished.

I added this 3/4" diameter aluminum bar to each side. Now all I have to do is move the bar and both levers raise or lower depending on what I need.

I gave each end a radius so they would be safer if I bump them. And they look better this way too. This worked out great because it's faster but and it also doesn't put all the strain on just any casters when you lift the first one.

Shelves

The bottom shelf will be made from some leftover melamine. Here I'm cutting notches at each corner to fit around the legs. Notice I'm using the T-Track and clamps to hold my work piece. So far the T-Track system is working great and the bench isn't even finished yet  :-]

Here I'm using a large clamp to help position my rail for the middle shelf so I can screw it in place. And I'm using a smaller clamp to hold the rail in place, while it's clamped to my larger clamp. Did you get all that?

Now I'm ready to fasten the shelf in place. On a side note: that Kreg pocket hole jig sure does work good. Did I mention that it's very quick and strong?
