Juju's Bank  4                                                8-2022

Working With Plastic

I'm getting ready to cut out some plastic that will be used for the front. This way Juju can see all the coins that are inside.

Here I'm drilling some pilot holes for all the screws that I'll be using.

After removing the plastic front, I enlarged all the holes and countersunk them all for flathead screws.

I'm using #4 brass screws to hold the plastic front on. Now it's time to cut away all the excess.

My bandsaw made quick work of cutting the plastic. Now it's time to do more sanding.

I placed some painters tape on the surfaces that will be sanded so I'll know when I'm close to the wood surface. And again I was able to do most of the surfaces here.

I did have some hand sanding and filing here and there.

In the base area I used a rat-tailed file to work this radius. Once it was close I switched to some sandpaper and dowel rod to finish with.

One of the last steps was the coin slot. I placed the slot slightly off-center so the coins would fall in place of just sitting there. If the bank ever got full enough then the coins would pile up and move to the opposite side.
