Sprocket Adapters Continued
And there you have it, a gear and sprocket tightened down ready to
go.
Side note: after looking at the painted washers installed, I kinda
like them.
The second scenario will be a sprocket/sprocket; 6" and
4", and the adapter looks the same as the first one. Notice the key is
shy of the shafts end. This is so the second gear will engage the key but
neither one will stick out past the end of the shaft. If you remember
the 4" sprockets had the 1/2" holes in them already? And all I had to do was
add the keyway to it? This is the sprocket that will go here.
Here is the sprocket/sprocket setup ready to go. And it's spaced one
inch apart like the other one.
These adapters will be another sprocket/sprocket deal
but this time both sprockets will have the larger holes at 3/4"
diameter. The distance between the sprockets will again be one inch and
will share the same key this time.
Here is a close-up of the key inside the adapters.
When the adapters are in place they will be placed back-to-back which
will allow the use of one key. These two sprockets are 5" and 6" in
diameter.
Both adapters are in place along with the dowel pins installed and
they're both ready for the shaft.
Here they are in place and they work great! And again, a shaft collar
was used on the back side to give me the correct distance to the end of
the shaft.
This should give you a better idea of what it looks like assembled.
Simple really but it took me awhile to make all these adapters.
