I'm going to make some last minute Christmas presents
for my grandkids, which will be doll cradles...three of them! Two of
them will be going to the same family so the littlies have one each.
This way they can both play with them anytime they want.
I'm going to use alder and black walnut for this project
which should look nice together. The length will be 22" long X 12" wide
X about 12" tall. I hope each grandchild has a doll otherwise mom and
dad will need to buy them one.

Working With Wood
The first order of business is to use my thickness planer to make
sure all my lumber is the same size.
Next I cut all the pieces and labeled them accordingly (sides, head
board, foot board, bottom and rockers)
Here I'm gluing three headboards together. Note: there's no glue between
each headboard.
I made some patterns for each piece.
I traced around the template using a pencil. |
Next I cut to the line using my bandsaw with a 1/4" blade. I'll do some sanding later.
This is the bottom which I'm bringing the width to size. I used my crosscut
sled for the lengths.
Here I'm putting a 45 degree angle on the one surface of the bottom
piece, which is only
decorative.
This should look nice once all the other pieces are attached.
