Working With Wood Continued
Here I'm sanding all the pieces with my DA sander using 150 grit
paper. And I'm using my dust collection so I don't have to give every
inch of my garage a good cleaning.
Next I'm ripping some solid oak trim
pieces that are 1 1/2" wide.
I'll be gluing the trim pieces to the sides of the plywood and to help
keep everything in alignment, I'll using my biscuit jointer.
This is how I would normally use this jointer, with the thickness/height
plate. But with some of my pieces 1 1/2" wide, this piece won't work.
Remove two screws and the thickness/height plate comes off. Now I can
use my jointer on those wider pieces.
I used five biscuits on each board to align my trim pieces.
Removing the plate on the jointer worked out great.
Then I glued and clamped the trim piece in place.
To make sure the trim piece on the top and bottom were in the correct
position, I had to use my jack system once again.
And here is the trim piece in place. Now I have to do more sanding to
blend it in.
