33 Coupe Welder 3        4/13/03

I installed the welder temporarily to make sure all was well because I only have a 60amp sub-panel in my garage and this was going to draw more than that. I also had 14 days from the time I received it to make sure it would work and if not, I could return it.

Here is a close-up of how it looked for a day while doing the testing. Looks safe to me....don't cha think?

This was just some scrap 1/4" thick mild steel I used for testing. Everything went well so it's time to run some wire and keep the unit.

After testing, it looked like I was going to be fine so now it's time to run some wire and put it in some conduit. The electrical for the welder recommends a 100 amp breaker so that means running larger wire like we see here. The blue is #6 and the green is #8. I had to run two #6's because this unit uses 240 volts and each line carries 120v to make the 240v. The green was used for the ground.
