Assembly Continued
I used a couple of larger washers to distribute out the load, which
worked out really well.

Features
The vacuum system for this saw has two locations, one on
top and another on the bottom. I used a small piece of hose from my dust
collection for the bandsaw here. Now I can use my quick release
attachment for all my machines.

|
The vacuum hose slides on for a quick connect or disconnect which makes
this system very easy to use.

This bandsaw has a blade tension pointer making it easy to adjust any
width of blade you might use. What you see below is a window that looks
at the blade tension scale that is on the inside next to the upper
wheel.
|
|
Here is a better view with the door open. I'm using a 1/2" wide blade
and the tension gage is right where it should be.
|
|
To open and close both doors Grizzly uses a very cool
system. With the use a socket head cap screw and a 3" diameter knob, all
you do is close the door and turn the knob. And as you can see this knob
has a cam-action that locks the door nice and tight.
|
|
To raise and lower the blade guard you just turn this
hand wheel. The blade guard runs on a rack-and-pinion gear set that is
much smoother than I expected. Once you have the guard to the height
that you need, there is a small knob on the back that locks it in place.

Another great feature on this bandsaw is the amount of resaw capability,
which is 12". I don't know if I'll ever need this much
capacity but you never know.
|
|
This is advertised as a 17" saw but I don't think it's actually that
much. It looks more like 16 1/2" but that should be plenty for me. And
it's nice to have a miter slot because I'm sure that will come in handy.
