I cut the rubber 3" square and then trimmed one corner to clear one
screw. Then I also cut a slit for the wire and hot-glued the rubber
to the back.

This should help keep out small bugs,
spiders along with more dust.

|
Here is what it looks like with the back on, along with my three foot
long USB wire.

|
This new unit works the same as my old one: press a button and the head unit comes
off. To install it you just click it in place.
|
|
This is the remote that came with my old unit but it works with the new
one. That's a good thing because Kenwood doesn't include this in the box any
longer, which means you have to buy it separately.
|
|
Here you can see I've got my second USB plug filled with a flash-drive
(arrow). Yes, there really is a 32 gig drive in there and it holds
hundreds of songs. And the second one is in the front port that looks
just like this one.

|
This new Kenwood unit has a feature that cycles through different
colors, 25 different colors to be exact. Each color has a few variations (three
different purples), ect.
|
|
This is one of many nice looking blues here.
|
|
And a green one, but you get the idea. And don't miss
the front USB port with my flash-drive installed on the right.
The "AIR 1" that you see in the pictures refers to the
radio
station 90.1 FM, which is a Christian station. I listen to this station
almost everyday and it's based in San Bernardino, CA. The worship music
they play is awesome and is very uplifting. Give it a try when you get
the chance. And if you're out of the area, just ask Alexa to play AIR 1
and you're hear live music over the internet.
This was a fun and overdue project, but in the end the
new media player works great and looks nice too.
