Woodworking Continued
Now that I have everything to size, it's time to
put a cut-out at one end. This cut-out will be inline with the faucet in
the sink and will be used to push scrapes of food into the sink. What
I'm doing here is using a center drill after finding the center of the
board.

I then used a 1/4" drill and went through. I plan on
using a hole saw and they have the same size drill but I'll be going
halfway through on one side, turning it over and then cutting the other
half. This way there won't be any tear-out.

And there we go, I have a 4 1/2" hole.
I laid out some lines to follow so I can cut away the this material
making a U shaped cutout.
I used my bandsaw for this and it made quick work of it.
I clamped the two pieces together and then used my spindle sander to
cleanup the cutout.
Next I sanded both sides finishing with 220 grit paper.
I'm going to round the corners with my belt sander and I'm using one of
my sockets to help me draw a radius. This process goes very fast on the
belt sander.

Tooling
Stef wanted a blood or juice groove on this board so I'm making some
tooling for my router. I had some old redwood laying around so I'm using
that.
I'm making four L shaped pieces that are screwed onto a 1/2" piece of
plywood.
