Working With Wood Continued
Now that the trees are glued together, it's time add some color to
them. And for the bases, I'll be using stain on them.
| Appling A Finish
I'll be using some flat white and satin moss green for the tree colors.
It was a nice day so I used my side yard as my paint booth again.
The following day it rained so I did the stain work inside the garage.
Side note: this stuff is stinky!!
To fasten the tree to the base, I used 5 minute epoxy and dabbed a small
amount on each foot.
It's Finished
Here are the taller ones, which are 11".
It's a simple design but they look pretty good. I did a small amount of
tough-up to some of the end grain with a small paint brush.
I noticed my brand wasn't on the base while taking these pictures. So
after I was finished taking photos, I put my brand on each one.
I know it looks like the small one is leaning but it's really not.
This was part of my last batch. |
I put a smaller one and medium size one on a single base.

I ended up making three batches of these trees because
most of the family members wanted some. By the end of the holidays, I
had to make more for our house. These were easy and fun to make and look
nice when displayed.
