Chest Base  3                                                6-2022

Woodworking Continued

I used some #10 screws with fender washers to help distribute the load better.

I used some stainable wood filler on all the nail holes. Then a few hours later I sanded everything.

This is the same color stain I used on the chest so I know it will match.

I applied three coats of clear on all the stained surfaces, just like I did for the chest.

It's Finished

Here it is all finished. To me this looks much better now.

Here is the side, and those cutouts worked great as places to put your hands while moving it.

A close-up of the mitered joints.

That grain looks pretty close on the chest and base.

It sits about four inches higher now but it's still below the bed height. This was fun to make, didn't cost much and it didn't take very long either. Oh, and my wife likes it better this way too.
