When I'm using my bench grinder I'm usually dipping my
work piece into water to keep it cool. But with my water bowl sitting
behind my belt sander it becomes a little inconvenient reaching for it.
I finally decided to make a bracket to hang my water bowl on the grinder
after all these years.
This bowl is made out of thick plastic and has worked
great for this task for about eight to 10 years now. However, it's time
to make my life easier when it's time to place a hot work piece that I'm
grinding into some water. Time to make a bracket.

| Working With Aluminum
I'm using some aluminum sheet for this bracket, which is
just under 1/8" thick. This material was a street sign and I believe it's
6061-T6 aluminum because it doesn't bend very easy. The size below is
12.00 square.

The first thing I did was sand the top surface with 150 grit paper.
Next I laid out my bracket with pencil.
I used my bandsaw to cut on the pencil line which went fast.

Here is what I have so far. Now it's time to cut out the hole for the
bowl.

I used my jig-saw to cut the hole while my work piece
was clamped to my work bench. I had to keep moving my clamps while I cut
an inch or two, then moved my bracket, tightened my clamps and cut a
little more.

I used a file to clean up the saw cut surface which worked fine for this
single bracket.
Then I used my belt sander for the perimeter.
A few minutes later my bracket was finished. Now it's time to install
it.
