After welding the box shape, it's time
to add two more pieces which the tires will rest against. Here is what
the basic shape looks like (it's upside down right now).
A close-up of some of my welding.
Maybe one of these days I'll get good at laying down some nicer welds.
The casters that I am using are rated
at 270 pounds per wheel which means each dolly should be able to hold over 1000
pounds. My car shouldn't weigh more than 2800 pounds so this should be fine. Also
these casters have 3" diameter wheels and all of them swivel.
Welding Galvanized plating (on the base of the casters) isn't fun at all because it spits and splatters
all over the place.
We're almost finished with them but let's see
now....what's missing...how bout something that won't let them rust.
