This Dodge pickup belongs to an old friend of mine, Don, that just moved
back from North Carolina. Don moved to the hand right coast about 19 years ago and
has worked for many different NASCAR teams during his stay back there.
He's a very good mechanic, fabricator, welder and has owned a mechanics
garage for many years before he went to the back east. He's raced at
many different asphalt tracks in Southern California back in the 70's
and he's also raced on the Grand National circuit for awhile back in
the 1979 as well.
While I was building my hot rod, he asked me to keep my eyes open for
a truck like this because he wanted to build one and it seemed like the
next time I talked with him, he found one and built it. Now Don has
owned over 100 vehicles in his life and he's just a few years older
than I am. Unbelievable but true as I've seen him drive many different
cars and trucks over the years.

He did all the work that you see here and he has it setup pro-street
style with huge 18.5 Hoosier tires under there and a 360 cubic inch
Dodge engine. The heads and intake have been worked over by the Yates
boys back east and there's a big shot of juice if he flips a switch.

Growing up and going to school in Banning, Don is one of the original
Shifter's Car Club members. As you can see, his plaque sits in the rear
window (just like in all the other cars and trucks he's had) that he's
proudly kept over the years. Don has taught me a lot about cars since
I've known him and it was nice to do some catching up at our first show
together. Oh...and it's for sale if you've got 30K, which is a pretty
good deal but that won't include the plaque.

This was a fun show with great food, a good turnout of cars and great
weather. Don won an award that day which was well deserved and I'm
looking forward to attending this one next month.
