Sunrise            February 2002

These are pictures of the sunrise on the longest and shortest days of the year. It gives you an idea of just how far the Earth tilts on it's axis during this time. This is known as Summer Solstice and Winter Solstice. The total variation over a one year period is 47 degrees. This is what makes the days so long in the summer and so short in the winter.
